A Look from the Roof

This painting shows a quintessential, nostalgic scene of life in Baku. Two men are deeply focused on a game of backgammon atop a rooftop, accompanied by a traditional samovar, with the modern Flame Towers rising in the distance. I drew this because I wanted to capture the beautiful harmony between our city’s historic, cozy atmosphere and its rapid modern development, reflecting how our culture constantly evolves while keeping its soul.
